In the wake of the successful third album Sounds For the Open Road, Papik reproposes the double format with this new album called Little Songs For Big Elevators. 30 tracks including unreleased songs and covers ranging from Pop, Funk, Soul, Bossa Nova, Jazz and acoustic ballads. We also find an instrumental piece inspired by the famous film themes of the Italian school. Many guests also international to embellish everything.
Among these we find: Sarah Jane Morris, the most important English soul jazz singer, already a guest on the previous album; Anduze, an American soul singer who’s guest on Parov Stelar’s latest album; the Jamaican Anglo singer and saxophonist Kenn Bailey; the historic American soul singer Ronnie Jones; the new talent of Italian jazz Walter Ricci; the solo voice of the Dirotta Su Cuba Simona Bencini; Neja, one of the most popular Italian voices in the world in the Dance House market; Nadia Straccia, American singer and actress of Italian origin; Alex Sammarini, singers and guitarist of the band Tree Gees, the best European cover band of Bee Gees; the Italian-Australian singer Alfredo Malabello; and again Ida Landsberg, Marta Capponi, Andrea Veschini, Frankie Pearl, Sara Galimberti, Letizia Liberati and historic Papik’s collaborators as Alan Scaffardi, Ely Bruna, Francesca Gramegna, Dagmar Segers, Erika Scherlin, Frankie Lovecchio and the voices of his parallel project The Soultrend Orchestra.
The album will be released in streaming, double CD and in double vinyl format.
Papik is a musical project born from an idea of the roman arranger and composer Nerio Poggi, author and producer ranging from Pop to Nu Jazz, from Bossa to Nu Soul and who collaborated among others, with Mario Biondi in the albums Handful of Soul as co-author of the song Gig, and in the album I Love You More in which appears as the author of the songs Rebirth and Moonlight in July, is also arranger in the song that gives the title to the album I Love You More. The choice of the name Papik originates from a nickname given to the young Nerio by his mother, who after seeing the scene of the birth of the newborn Papik in the film by Nicholas Ray White Shadows, noted the similarity between the two.
In 2009 he released the debut album Rhythm of Life (IRMA records) which contains the single Staying For Good sung by Alan Scaffardi. The song is a great success and is broadcast in heavy rotation by the largest Italian national radio networks (Radio Deejay, Radio Capital, Radio Montecarlo, Radio 105, Radio Rai) as well as by many British radio stations such as Jazz FM and BBC.
In May 2012 the second album Music Inside was released, preceded by the single The Puzzle Of Life sung by Ely Bruna, which was chosen by Gallardagalante, a well-known fashion line made in Japan for the ad for the new advertising campaign. The album is also released in Japan and is receiving considerable success.
The song Sign Of Your Love sung by Alan Scaffardi, helps to confirm the internationality of Papik’s project, becoming the title track of the new album by the Australian singer Jason Donovan distributed worldwide by Polydor Records The fame of Papik in the Land of the Rising Sun brought them to play in May 2012 in the temple of the international jazz Blue Note of Tokyo.
In the same year, he collaborates with the legendary English band Matt Bianco in their latest cd Hideaway arranging two tracks, Too Late for Love and Kiss the Bride.
In November 2012 he produced the cd Cocktail Martino, dedicated to the music of the great Italian composer Bruno Martino. Among the numerous singers who collaborate in this production, stands out the German crooner Tom Gaebel, very well-known in his homeland, who sings Garota De Inamena. In 2013 he produced and arranged the album New Life by Matteo Brancaleoni, one of the most popular Italian crooners, Neja‘s album Neja Vu in which the famous dance singer dedicated herself to the most refined sound of the soul lounge.
In 2014 he released his third album entitled Sounds For the Open Road (again for Irma Records) Conceived as a collaborative project, he presents himself as a double album divided into a jazz album and a soul album and the names are: Frank McComb , Sarah Jane Morris, Mark Reilly (Matt White), Tom Gabel, Fabrizio Bosso, Ely Bruna, Andreas Aleman, Simona Bencini, Wendy D. Lewis, Alan Scaffardi, Walter Ricci, Francesca Gramegna, Dario Daneluz, Frankie Lovecchio, Erika Scherlin, Alessandro Pitoni.
Japan, which hosted Papik and the band in 2012 at the Blue Note, returns to break into the musical heart of “Papik” which, accompanied by his longtime trusted Fabrizio Foggia, Alfredo Bochicchio and Massimo Guerra, composes the soundtrack for the new series of the famous anime Lupin III – The Italian adventure. In 2015 he produced Ely Bruna‘s second album “Synesthesia” and the new project dedicated to the great names of Italian music “Cocktail Mina”.
In 2016 Papik Smooth Experience comes out, a journey into the fusion sounds, smooth jazz genres dear to Papik. He also produced the album by the virtuoso harmonica player from Palermo Giuseppe Milici. The third chapter of the cocktail collection is also dedicated this time to Lucio Battisti with the presence of the guitarist Phil Palmer among others, who proposes an updated version of the famous solo in Con il nastro rosa he also performed in the original version.
In 2017 the band is called to play in Great Britain, enjoying great success, and Papik also produces the new cd of Alessandro Pitoni In love again, dedicated to the music of the great master Burt Bacharach.
